Thank You Marnie! I am so happy to find your website! When I was first diagnosed, and going through RADS 5 years ago, I was surprised not any of my breast cancer doctors could school me in nutrition specifically breast cancer! To date, I still cannot find a nutritionist who specializes in cancer patients locally or in my hospital systems. During RADS, drinks and tea were offered, but they weren’t organic! Since my treatments, and trying to lose weight, I started to see 2 different nutritionists who focused on weight loss, but not foods I should eat or avoid, nor supplements I should take. Through my own research and common sense, I think I have done a good job of healthy eating, although it is still tough to get the weight off. I agree with your statement on Ensure, and volunteering with elderly hospital patients, I am disheartened when I see these bottles on their food trays. I have written to the hospital admin, but nothing ever changed.

      Dear Sue,
Thanks for sharing that. Yes its unfortunate that our medical personnel know so little about the role that good nutrition can play in the healing process. It is absolutely fundamental! Thanks for doing your bit to raise awareness about Ensure – we will just have to persevere!
      Warmest regards,
      Marnie

      Dear Marianne,
Happy to assist! Glad you got this information at the right time. There’s one other page from my website that would be very helpful for you right now so that you can avoid the “burned boob”: https://marnieclark.com/how-to-protect-your-skin-during-radiation-treatment-for-breast-cancer/ For everyone who follows that protocol, their skin stays in great shape and their radiation oncologist is amazed. Wishing you all the best in your healing journey.

My radiation oncologist was adamant about not taking supplements or ingesting antioxidants. The more questions I asked the more pash-back I received. I wish what I knew then what I know now!

I just had a lumpectomy. My surgeon told me if I don’t do radiation, she guarantees I will be back in her office in a few years. My oncologist wants me on hormone blocker and a chemo pill. I feel like I am betraying my body by doing these things but yet I don’t want it spreading. I did 5 months of chemo before surgery. I had all my lymph nodes taken out and on 2 of them the cancer was found on the outside lining so they moved me to a stage 3c.
